Glashütte, situated in the Weisseritz district of Saxony, is in one of the most beautiful
low mountain ranges in Germany, the eastern Erz Mountains. The Weisseritz district borders the
Czech Republic in the south, Saxon Switzerland directly to the east, and the state capital Dresden
to the north. The district of Freiberg is to the west. Glashütte, the city of watches, is
situated approximately 30 km from Dresden in the picturesque Müglitz Valley.
There are three ways to get to Glashütte by Automobile:
1.) Driving on the A4/E40 highway, follow it until you reach the merging point called Dresden West
and get on A17 toward Prague. Please follow the A17 until you reach the Dresden Südvorstadt
exit and get on B170/E55 toward Dippoldiswalde/Bannewitz/Possendorf/Freital. Now you will continue,
going through the villages of Hänichen, Possendorf and Karsdorf, and then finally coming to
Oberhäslich.
After passing the sign that you have just entered Oberhäslich, turn left and continue driving
on the secondary road (called Glashütter Straße) through Reinholdshain, Niederfrauendorf,
and Luchau until you reach Glashütte.
2.) Alternatively, if you are coming from the direction of Dresden, take B172 in the direction of
Pirna until you reach Heidenau. Then take the Müglitztalstraße, passing through the villages
of Dohna, Weesenstein, Mühlbach and Schlottwitz, all the way to Glashütte. (Or take the A17
highway until you reach the Pirna exit and go through the Müglitz Valley – through
Weesenstein, Mühlbach, Schlottwitz – until you reach Glashütte).
3.) If you are coming from the direction of Altenberg, please drive through the villages of Geising,
Lauenstein, Bärenstein, and Bärenhecke to Glashütte.
